This session will allow educators to share top resources and study material with your students to ensure they are equipped to score their best. To become a FAFSA volunteer or to assist your students, this workshop is designed to provide training for one-on-one FAFSA completion. Learn how to avoid common errors on the FAFSA such as understanding dependency status, household size, and whose income to use. High school educators wear many hats with college counseling being an important role for your students. Learn how to help your students as they engage with the college search process. Learn about the college timeline starting in the 9th grade and ways to support your seniors with Application Days, FAFSA Days, and Signing Days. Get updates on federal and state financial aid. Learn how to use federal and state data to 1) identify students early who may qualify for scholarships and grants such as the HELP grant and 2) to assure all your students are meeting federal and state deadlines. Other topics might include NCAA Clearinghouse Information, finding the right college fit, under matching or selective college admissionsAs a part of the Mississippi Diploma endorsement options, the College and Career Readiness course will be a required course for the class of 2021-2022.
